Mantra Health, a digital mental health provider for college and university students, wanted to create a self-guided dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills program that showcases various tips and techniques to navigate life’s challenges and improve well-being.

PRODUCTION
To achieve the authentic feel of user-generated content that they desired, we deployed our Remote Production Kit to the location of Dr. Carla Chugani, the host of the video course. Filming remotely also allowed us to remain safe during the pandemic and collaborate in real time with team members across the country in Los Angeles, Seattle, Philadelphia, and Naples.
After discussing the creative vision and consulting on set design, the Mantra Health team and our crew spent two consecutive days remotely capturing all of the needed content. Immediately after filming, the footage was uploaded to the cloud so we could begin post-production before the kit shipped back. Working with the designers at Mantra Health, our editors created a video course with custom branded graphics to tie the course together and integrate it into the Mantra Health app.
As strong advocates for mental health education, this project was a particularly meaningful one for our team. We were honored to help increase access to quality mental health services for college students everywhere by using our kits to create meaningful content. Through the process of filming the series & absorbing the lessons ourselves, we felt like we’d received the therapeutic benefit that their audience will surely receive as well.
In addition to seeking important projects, we always try to infuse fun into our work and were so pleased when Dr. Carla decided to finish off the course with humor: a roaring, costumed dance number that had the entire crew in fits of laughter, reminding each of us of the healing properties of silliness. If only every shoot ended with a dinosaur twerking to ‘90s R&B…
RESULT
The Mantra Health video course launched at 3 pilot institutions this quarter: Miami Dade College, St. Petersburg College, and Washington College. Initial sign-ups and user feedback have been very positive.
